This piece, Fluid Imprints, was inspired by a moment I experienced at Newboro Lake on the Rideau Canal. It’s one of the many small islands adrift in the middle of this vast, peaceful lake. I was drawn to the big skies and the way the fall colours were slowly making their way into the landscape in the distance. At the same time, the small cabin on the island felt the full force of the warm, hard sun, low on the horizon, against that expansive blue sky.
What really captivated me was how the movement in the clouds seemed to play off the stillness of the pine trees, filling the empty spaces on the island. There’s something about the balance between the dynamic energy of the sky and the quiet, solid presence of the trees and cabin that really resonated with me.
This piece is a reflection of that moment in time—where the forces of nature and the serenity of the landscape come together in a harmonious, fluid dance.

The title, Cumulus, draws inspiration from the fleeting beauty of clouds, symbolizing spontaneity, change, and connection. These works encourage reflection on our relationship with the environment and celebrate the wonder of nature—from its grand spectacles to its subtle nuances. Through this exhibition, I hope to evoke emotions and inspire appreciation for the landscapes that shape our experiences.
