A Rideau Lakes Icon – The Chaffey’s Series by Andrew D Milne
The Chaffey’s Lock boat houses, Mill and the Opinicon Resort all represent a romanticized time and snapshot of the Rideau Canal when small hamlets were at the center of life along the world-famous waterway. People lived, worked, and thrived in bustling communities along the system.
For me, this area has been a retreat for my family and friends for over 40 years. The many areas around the Opinicon including Opinicon Lake, Sand Lake and Davis Lock are the inspiration for many of my sketches and paintings over the years. The bold colours, the flowing waters, the windswept trees and the massive open sky all influence the polarizing colours and movement of my work.
I am pleased to announce “The Chaffey’s Series”. These are brand new works completed just for the Opinicon showcase and this unique opportunity. Each of these pieces hold a special memory in my heart and reflects generations of my family. I look forward to sharing them with you and hearing your thoughts.
From June 15th, 2022, this Series will be on display for 3 weeks at the Opinicon Resort (www.opinicon.com) in the main Lobby, Dining Room and in the famous Ice Cream shop). All Artwork are for sale.
